Mon Dec 30 15:28:10 UTC 2024: ## Andhra Deputy CM Defends Police in Allu Arjun Stampede Case, Calls for Empathy

**Hyderabad, India** – Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Janasena Party leader Pawan Kalyan has defended the Telangana Police’s actions in the case against actor Allu Arjun following a deadly stampede at a Hyderabad theatre. While acknowledging the tragedy, Mr. Kalyan emphasized that the law applies equally to all and praised Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s handling of the situation.

The stampede, which occurred on December 4th at Sandhya Theatre during a screening of Allu Arjun’s film *Pushpa 2*, resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman, Revathi, and injuries to her son. Allu Arjun, who was present at the theatre, was subsequently arrested and later released on bail.

Mr. Kalyan, who is related to Allu Arjun through marriage, stated that while he doesn’t blame the police for prioritizing public safety, he believes the theatre staff should have better managed the situation. He suggested that they should have informed Allu Arjun of any potential issues beforehand and, if necessary, asked him to vacate his seat.

However, Mr. Kalyan’s strongest criticism was directed at the lack of immediate empathy shown towards the victim’s family. He expressed deep regret over Revathi’s death and urged that a representative from Allu Arjun’s team should have visited the grieving family sooner to offer condolences and support. He attributed public anger to this absence of a timely, compassionate response.

Mr. Kalyan further defended Allu Arjun, stating that it’s unfair to place sole responsibility for the incident on the actor. He also lauded Chief Minister Reddy, highlighting his supportive approach to the film industry while maintaining a firm stance on law and order. He contrasted Reddy’s approach with that of the YSRCP government. A recent meeting between the Telugu film industry and Chief Minister Reddy confirmed the state government’s support for the industry, while reiterating its commitment to upholding the law.

The incident has sparked considerable debate, with public opinion divided on Allu Arjun’s culpability. While some question his responsibility for the tragic outcome, others argue that his celebrity status should not exempt him from accountability.
