**SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA** – Netflix’s hit Korean drama, *Squid Game*, is set to return for a final season in 2025. Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed the news, revealing that Season 3 will conclude the overarching story arc.
Season 2 ended on a cliffhanger, leaving Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) at a critical juncture. After a failed attempt to dismantle the deadly games, he faces an uncertain future, questioning his commitment to the cause. Hwang described Gi-hun’s state as “a very critical crossroads,” hinting at significant character development.
The upcoming season will continue the confrontation between Gi-hun and the Front Man, with the outcome of their battle still uncertain. The fate of numerous characters from Season 2 remains unresolved, including Myung-gi and his pregnant girlfriend, Park Yong-sik and his mother, and several other players with compelling backstories. Hwang Dong-hyuk originally conceived seasons two and three as a single story, but split them due to the scope of the narrative.
