Mon Dec 30 11:26:27 UTC 2024: ## Leopard Sighting in Kolli Hills Debunked by Tamil Nadu Forest Department
**Salem, Tamil Nadu – December 30, 2024** – A video circulating on social media claiming a leopard sighting in the Kolli Hills of Namakkal district has been dismissed by the Tamil Nadu Forest Department. While recent livestock attacks fueled local speculation of a leopard presence, the department insists there is no concrete evidence supporting these claims.
Following the deaths and injuries of goats in a suspected animal attack, the Forest Department deployed cameras in the area. However, these cameras failed to capture any evidence of a leopard. Despite a viral video purportedly showing a leopard near Nathukuzhipatti, the department’s Namakkal District Forest Officer (DFO) S. Kalanithi stated that no leopard has been officially sighted.
While acknowledging public concern, the DFO emphasized that the video remains unverified. As a precaution, officials are monitoring animal movements in the Kolli Hills, but the department assures the public and tourists that there is no cause for alarm. Police have advised residents to exercise caution at night.
