**PALAKKAD, December 30, 2024** – Renowned cinema and theatre artiste Nilambur Ayisha was awarded the Kalamandalam Ramankutty Nair Award on Monday evening at the Swaralaya Samanwayam dance and music festival in Palakkad. The award, instituted by Swaralaya, recognizes Ayisha’s significant contributions to Kerala’s cultural landscape.

MLA K. Prem Kumar presented the award, which includes a cash prize of ₹25,000, a citation read by Swaralaya secretary T.R. Ajayan, and a ponnada (traditional shawl) presented by Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi chairman Mattannur Sankarankutty. The Akademi secretary, Karivallur Murali, also presented a citation.

At the age of 90, Ayisha expressed her renewed vigor, stating the award has inspired her to continue pursuing roles in theatre and cinema. The ceremony concluded with Carnatic music performances by H. Ratnaprabha and a fusion music performance by Roopa Revati and her team. Swaralaya president N.N. Krishnadas presided over the function.
