Mon Dec 30 10:03:18 UTC 2024: ## Salah Plays Down Liverpool Contract Talks Amidst Stellar Performance

**Liverpool, England** – Liverpool star Mohamed Salah poured cold water on speculation regarding a contract extension with the club, stating that negotiations are far from reaching an agreement. His comments came after another dazzling performance in Liverpool’s 5-0 victory over West Ham, a match in which he scored one goal and assisted two more.

Salah, whose current contract expires at the end of the season, dismissed recent reports suggesting a deal was imminent. “We are far away from that,” he told Sky Sports. He emphasized his current focus is solely on securing the Premier League title for Liverpool, adding, “The only thing in my mind is that I want Liverpool to win the league and I want to be part of it.”

The Egyptian forward’s exceptional form continues, with a remarkable 20 goals and 17 assists in 24 Premier League and Champions League appearances this season. This impressive tally has led to speculation linking him with a move to the Saudi Pro League, but Salah reiterated his commitment to Liverpool’s title chase.

Salah’s future, along with that of teammates Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold (also out of contract in the summer), remains uncertain. From January 1st, they are free to negotiate with clubs outside of England. While Liverpool currently enjoys an eight-point lead in the league, the possibility of a free transfer next summer adds an intriguing layer of uncertainty to the club’s season.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot praised Salah’s performance, acknowledging his world-class status based on his impressive statistics. However, Slot also highlighted the contributions of other top players in different leagues.
