**Guwahati, Assam – December 30, 2024** – The Assam Special Task Force (STF) announced the arrest of the prime accused in a recent arms seizure case. Gazi Rahman, 35, was apprehended on Monday in Kokrajhar district as part of the ongoing ‘Operation Praghat’.

Rahman was allegedly involved with a group from whom a large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered on December 25th, leading to the earlier arrest of two other suspects. The STF, assisted by Kokrajhar police, made the breakthrough during their ongoing multi-state operation targeting alleged terrorists and fundamentalist networks.

STF IGP Parthasarathi Mahanta confirmed the arrest and stated that further investigations and legal proceedings are underway. The STF remains committed to apprehending all individuals connected to the case. This arrest follows the December 25th seizure and an earlier operation on December 17-18 that resulted in the arrest of eight individuals, including a Bangladeshi national, suspected of attempting to establish sleeper cells. ‘Operation Praghat’ continues its efforts to disrupt alleged terrorist and fundamentalist activities across multiple states.
