**Krishnagiri, Karnataka, December 30, 2024** – New guidelines for the conduct of Erudhuvidum Vizha, a traditional bull race event in Karnataka, were announced today following a consultative meeting chaired by Collector K.M. Sarayu. The meeting, organized by the Department of Animal Husbandry, aims to ensure the safety and well-being of the animals and spectators.

Key changes include a mandatory one-month advance application process requiring a detailed event schematic approved by the Department of Animal Husbandry and an estimated participant count. The event site must be an open area with accessible spectator entry at a nominal fee. Crucially, a maximum of 250 bulls will be permitted, each requiring a token procured from the Revenue Department. Eight-foot-high barricades will be mandatory along the bull race route.

The administration emphasized a strong focus on animal welfare and safety, outlining detailed regulations for the event’s organization and conduct. The new guidelines aim to improve safety standards and regulate participation in the popular bull racing event.
