**Patna, Bihar:** Acharya Kishore Kunal, a former IPS officer and secretary of Patna’s Mahavir Mandir, passed away on Sunday after suffering a heart attack. His last rites were performed today, December 30th, at Konhara Ghat in Hajipur.
Kunal’s death has plunged Bihar into mourning. A large crowd gathered at the Mahavir Mandir earlier today for a final glimpse of his body before the funeral procession departed. Prominent figures, including Bihar Minister Nitin Navin, paid their respects at the temple. Kunal was a regular attendee of the Mahavir Mandir’s morning prayers. A special prayer service was held at the temple before his body was taken to Hajipur. Several Bihar ministers are expected to have attended the funeral.
On Sunday, Kunal’s body lay in state at his residence, where prominent leaders including Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav and BJP leader Ashwini Kumar Choubey offered their condolences.
Kunal played a pivotal role in establishing several hospitals and healthcare facilities, including the Mahavir Cancer Institute, Mahavir Arogya Sansthan, Mahavir Netralaya, Mahavir Vatsalya Hospital, Mahavir Senior Citizen Hospital, and the Vishwanath Hospital in Konhara, Hajipur. He was also instrumental in the reconstruction of the Mahavir Mandir and the establishment of a Ramayana temple in East Champaran. His contributions to healthcare and religious institutions in Bihar will be remembered for years to come.
