Fri Dec 27 03:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Shastri Slams India’s “Ordinary” Bowling in Australia Test

**Ahmedabad, India** – Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has heavily criticized the Indian bowling attack’s performance during the first session of day two in the fourth Test against Australia. Shastri described the bowling as “ordinary” and said the team appeared “bereft of ideas.”

His criticism stemmed from Australia’s commanding start to the day, adding 112 runs for the seventh wicket before eventually being bowled out for 474. Steve Smith’s 140-run knock, a masterful display according to Shastri, was a significant factor in Australia’s success.

Shastri questioned the team’s strategy, particularly the underutilization of their two spinners, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar. He pointed out the significant delay before both bowlers were introduced into the attack, questioning the rationale behind including them in the team if their skills weren’t going to be fully utilized.

“I thought the bowling was pretty ordinary,” Shastri stated on Star Sports. “They ran out of ideas. Spin wasn’t used as much as it should have. It took a long time for them to bowl.”

He further highlighted Australia’s successful strategy of accelerating their run rate early in the day, leaving the Indian bowlers struggling to adapt. Shastri praised Smith’s innings, highlighting his adaptability and skill as a key element in Australia’s dominance. The former coach’s comments raise serious questions about India’s tactical approach and bowling strategy in this crucial Test match.
