**Centurion, South Africa** – South Africa took control of the first day of the first Test against Pakistan at Centurion on Thursday. A strong bowling performance, spearheaded by Dane Paterson’s five-wicket haul (5/61) and debutant Corbin Bosch’s impressive four-wicket haul (4/63), bowled out Pakistan for 211. Bosch notably took a wicket with his very first ball in Test cricket.
Pakistan’s innings was hampered by the early dismissals of captain Shan Masood and Babar Azam, who scored only 4 runs. While Kamran Ghulam (54) and Mohammad Rizwan (28) offered some resistance with an 81-run partnership, they were unable to prevent a significant collapse.
South Africa’s reply was shaky initially, losing two early wickets to Khurram Shahzad. However, Aiden Markram’s unbeaten 47 steered the Proteas to 82 for 3 at stumps, leaving them trailing by 129 runs. South Africa will be looking to build on this strong foundation on Day 2.
