**NEW DELHI** – Zomato’s year-end report for 2024 reveals fascinating insights into India’s food consumption habits, highlighting a national obsession with biryani and pizza. The food delivery giant reported a staggering 913,991,10 biryani orders and 584,46,908 pizza orders across the country. These two dishes clearly dominated the culinary landscape this year.
Beyond the headline-grabbing numbers, the report also showcased some unique ordering behaviors. One individual ordered 120 Manchurian combos on a train via Zomato’s partnership with IRCTC, enough to feed an entire train carriage. Another Delhi-based food enthusiast pushed the boundaries, exploring an impressive 1377 different restaurants throughout the year.
Zomato’s quick-commerce arm, Blinkit, also contributed interesting data. Indians ordered over 17 million packs of Maggi and more than 10 million Coca-Cola cans through the platform. Other popular drinks included Thums Up, Maaza, and Sprite, with one user alone ordering an astounding 1203 bottles of Sprite in 2024. Demand for tonic water also proved surprisingly high, with 37,82,261 cans ordered nationwide.
