Thu Dec 26 20:01:35 UTC 2024: ## Delhi Police Boost Security for New Year’s Eve

**New Delhi, December 27, 2024** – Over 10,000 Delhi police officers, including traffic police, will be deployed across the city to ensure a safe and orderly New Year’s Eve celebration, authorities announced Thursday. The increased security measures include heightened border patrols with neighboring states (Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan) to prevent illegal activities and “nuisance” from out-of-state visitors. Paramilitary forces are also assisting in border security at over 20 checkpoints.

The police will focus on cracking down on drunk driving and reckless motorcycle stunts, particularly in high-traffic areas like Connaught Place, Hauz Khas, and India Gate. Vehicle access to Connaught Place’s Inner Circle will be restricted to those with a valid Delhi police sticker. Authorities are also conducting checks at various locations, including bus stands and railway stations, to verify the documentation of individuals. The intensified security measures aim to minimize hooliganism and traffic violations while allowing residents and visitors to celebrate responsibly.
