**Hyderabad, December 27, 2024** – Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad suspended its outpatient services today, December 27th, as part of the seven-day state mourning period declared following the death of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Emergency services remain operational. Regular outpatient services are scheduled to resume on Saturday, December 28th.
The decision was made in accordance with the Telangana state government’s holiday declaration. NIMS director Dr. Bheerappa Nagari stated that the hospital observed the holiday as a mark of respect.
However, other major government hospitals in Hyderabad, including Gandhi Hospital and Osmania General Hospital, are functioning as usual. While Osmania General Hospital deferred non-essential programs, both hospitals confirmed no directives were received to suspend outpatient services.
