Fri Dec 27 13:44:03 UTC 2024: ## New Bridge Connecting Sagar Villages Nears Completion

**Shivamogga, Karnataka, December 27, 2024** – Construction of a long-awaited bridge connecting Kalasavalli and Siganduru in Sagar taluk is in its final stages and is expected to be completed by March or April 2025, according to Shivamogga MP B.Y. Raghavendra.

The ₹450 crore cable-stayed bridge, initiated with the laying of the foundation stone by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in March 2019, will significantly improve connectivity in the region. The project was facilitated by the upgrade of the Sagar-Sigandur road via Kalasavalli to a national highway, securing the necessary funding.

The bridge’s completion will greatly benefit tourists visiting Sigandur, Kollur, Dharmasthala, and other nearby sites. The construction addresses the disruption of road connectivity caused by the submergence of a large area in Sagar taluk following the construction of the Linganmakki dam. Until now, the Department of Ports and Inland Water Transport has operated ferries to serve villagers and tourists traveling to Sigandur.
