**New Delhi, India** – The Delhi-NCR region is experiencing heavy rainfall, which began at 4 AM today. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, with warnings also issued for Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and parts of western Uttar Pradesh. Senior scientist Shashikant Mishra from the Delhi Meteorological Centre stated that the rainfall is due to an active western disturbance and is expected to continue until Saturday.
The downpour is affecting Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurgaon in addition to Delhi. A rain alert has been issued for these areas for both today and tomorrow. Furthermore, a yellow alert has been issued for dense fog across the Delhi-NCR region from December 27th to 29th, advising caution for travelers, especially during evenings and nights. The IMD forecasts further heavy rain in the next two hours.
The rainfall is expected to cause a drop in both maximum and minimum temperatures. Currently, the maximum temperature is between 19-20°C and the minimum is between 10-13°C. Further temperature drops are anticipated following the two days of continuous rain.
