**Madurai, December 27, 2024** – The traditional Tamil bull-taming sport, Jallikattu, will be held in a grand manner in Alanganallur, Palamedu, and Avaniapuram in Madurai from January 14th to 16th, coinciding with the Pongal festival, announced Tamil Nadu Minister for Registration and Commercial Taxes, P. Moorthy.

Following a consultative meeting with officials and Jallikattu organizers, the Minister confirmed the state government’s commitment to facilitating a smooth and transparent event. He emphasized that participation will require online registration for both bull owners and tamers, with strict adherence to all applicable laws. Sponsorship will be limited to gifts for bulls and tamers, excluding other forms of funding.

Addressing concerns regarding the composition of the organizing committee, Minister Moorthy assured that all procedures would be conducted fairly and transparently. He highlighted the state government’s dedication to promoting Jallikattu, citing Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s funding for a new arena near Alanganallur. The event’s success, he stated, rests on the involvement of all stakeholders. The meeting was attended by various officials, including the Madurai Collector, Commissioner of Police, and representatives from the Tamil Nadu Jallikattu Associations.
