Fri Dec 27 04:41:53 UTC 2024: ## Varun Dhawan’s “Baby John” Scores Promising Box Office Debut
**Mumbai, December 26** – Varun Dhawan’s latest action thriller, “Baby John,” opened strong at the box office on Christmas Day, grossing ₹12.50 crore. This marks Dhawan’s highest opening day collection in five years, surpassing even his 2019 film “Kalank.” The film, a remake of the Tamil hit “Theri,” saw a 24.97% occupancy rate for Hindi screenings.
The success is a significant turnaround for Dhawan, whose previous releases – “Street Dancer 3D,” “Jug Jugg Jeeyo,” and “Bhediya” – failed to achieve double-digit opening day figures. Dhawan’s dedication to the role is evident; he reportedly performed most of the film’s extensive stunts himself, spending over six hours suspended upside down during filming. He credited director Kalees for pushing him to his physical limits, while also acknowledging producer Atlee’s emphasis on safety.
“Baby John,” co-starring Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Jackie Shroff, is currently competing with Allu Arjun’s “Pushpa 2” at the box office. Dhawan visited the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain with producer Atlee before the film’s release, attributing his success to blessings. Early indications suggest “Baby John” is poised for a successful run, though its ultimate box office performance remains to be seen.
