Thu Dec 26 01:10:00 UTC 2024: ## IMD Predicts Hailstorms, Dense Fog Across North India

**New Delhi, December 26:** The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast hailstorms in parts of Madhya Pradesh, western Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh on December 27 and 28. The prediction comes as heavy snowfall in the mountains continues to cause widespread disruption and a significant drop in temperatures across the plains.

Dense fog engulfed Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan on Wednesday, severely impacting daily life. IMD scientist Naresh Kumar attributed this to a western disturbance, which has also brought rainfall to Delhi-NCR in recent days. He further stated that the western disturbance, combined with winds from the Bay of Bengal, is expected to cause light rain in central India and the Delhi-NCR region on December 27. Temperatures are expected to drop by approximately 2 degrees Celsius.

The IMD also anticipates dense fog will persist in Punjab, Rajasthan, and parts of Uttar Pradesh for the next two to three days.
