**Kalaburagi, December 25, 2024** – A tragic road accident on National Highway 151 near Gobbur (B) village in Kalaburagi district claimed the lives of three people on Wednesday evening. The collision involved a van carrying pilgrims, a sugarcane-laden lorry, and a scooter.
According to police reports, the van, carrying pilgrims returning from the Dattatreya temple in Deval Ganagapur, attempted to overtake another vehicle and lost control, colliding with the lorry. A scooter became trapped between the two larger vehicles.
The deceased have been identified as Anoop Madhav (29) and Vinita Kashyap (54), both passengers in the van, and Basavaraj (33), the scooter rider. Madhav was a resident of Kalaburagi, Kashyap hailed from Mysuru, and Basavaraj was a local from Gobbur (B). While the pilgrims died at the scene, other passengers in the van sustained minor injuries. The drivers of both the lorry and the van fled the scene following the accident. Police are currently investigating the incident.
