Thu Dec 26 02:52:41 UTC 2024: ## Japan Airlines Hit by Cyberattack, Causing Flight Delays

**Tokyo, Japan** – Japan Airlines (JAL) experienced a significant cyberattack on December 26th, 2024, leading to delays in both domestic and international flights. While the airline initially warned of potential delays and cancellations, they later announced that the cause of the issue had been identified and addressed. At least nine domestic flights were affected.

The attack, which began around 7:24 a.m. local time, temporarily suspended sales for all departing flights. JAL confirmed the network problems via social media, apologizing for the inconvenience caused to passengers. By 8:56 a.m., the airline reported that the issue had been resolved and was working on system recovery.

This incident marks the latest in a series of cyberattacks targeting Japanese companies. In recent years, Japan’s space agency (JAXA), Nagoya Port, and even the National Center of Incident Readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity (NISC) have been victims of cyberattacks. A 2022 attack on a Toyota supplier even led to a day-long production halt at the automaker’s domestic plants. The increasing frequency of these incidents underscores growing concerns about cybersecurity in Japan.
