Thu Dec 26 13:30:08 UTC 2024: ## China Reports Progress in Disengagement with India at Ladakh Border

**Beijing, December 26, 2024** – China’s Defence Ministry announced today that both Chinese and Indian militaries are making steady progress in implementing the agreement to resolve the border standoff in eastern Ladakh. Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, a Chinese Defence Spokesperson, stated during a media briefing that the implementation is “comprehensive and effective.”

The statement follows a December 18th meeting between Special Representatives, Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who discussed the agreement’s implementation and the restoration of relations strained since the April 2020 border standoff. The agreement itself was approved in October by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping during a meeting in Kazan, Russia.

Col. Zhang emphasized that improving China-India relations serves the interests of both nations and their people. The Chinese military expressed its readiness to collaborate with India to fully implement the leaders’ consensus, increase communication, and strengthen military-to-military ties to ensure lasting peace and stability in the border region.
