Thu Dec 26 01:50:00 UTC 2024: ## Rohit Sharma Praises Bumrah Ahead of Crucial Melbourne Test

**Melbourne, Australia:** Indian captain Rohit Sharma heaped praise on star pacer Jasprit Bumrah ahead of the Boxing Day Test against Australia, highlighting his self-belief and uncomplicated approach. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy series is currently tied 1-1 after India drew the third Test in Brisbane.

Bumrah has been India’s standout bowler in the series, leading the wicket tally with 21 at an impressive average of 10.90. He has already secured two five-wicket hauls and one four-wicket haul in the first three matches. His overall Test record is equally formidable, with 194 wickets at an average of 19.52 in 43 matches, including 12 five-wicket hauls. Against Australia specifically, Bumrah boasts an exceptional record of 53 wickets at 17.15 in 10 matches, with three five-wicket hauls.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Rohit emphasized Bumrah’s unwavering confidence and straightforward approach. “He knows what he’s doing; he doesn’t try to complicate things,” Rohit stated. “It’s very easy for him not to say much. He knows exactly what he is doing, how he operates. He doesn’t try to complicate things with his stuff. He keeps it nice and simple. He has so much belief in his skills that we don’t need to discuss much with him.”

Rohit further explained that Bumrah’s confidence simplifies the captain’s role. “It’s very easy for me not to think too much when he’s bowling,” Rohit said. “Because there’s clarity in his mind about whether he’ll get wickets or not. That confidence he has in his skill, that communication during the game gives me that assurance that I know what he’s trying to do, so I don’t need to add anything else.”

The Indian captain also highlighted the positive impact Bumrah has on the rest of the bowling attack. “With him around, everything is so much easier, and it’s always good to have a player like him in your team when he’s in this kind of form,” Rohit commented. “It eases the workload of other bowlers as well. They just have to maintain the pressure. His thoughts are very clear and simple when it comes down to it. It’s nice to see so many people on the opposite side talking about him. There’s a lot of discussion everywhere. As I said, his impact on the series so far has been huge. I hope he continues to do so because these two matches are very crucial for us.”

The fourth Test begins on December 26th at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. Both teams have announced their squads.
