**MULUGU, Telangana (December 26, 2024)** – Blackberry Island, a five-acre haven nestled in the Eturunagaram Wildlife Sanctuary of Mulugu district, Telangana, is set to become the state’s newest tourist attraction. Officially opening soon, the island offers a unique blend of natural beauty and modern amenities, providing a tranquil escape for visitors seeking respite from urban life.

The island, located near National Highway 163, boasts 50 modern tents accommodating two to four people, along with recreational facilities including volleyball, kabaddi, and fishing. A restaurant offers Telangana and North Indian cuisine. Sustainable practices are employed, with solar-powered lights and bamboo fencing preserving the natural ecosystem.

Minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka), along with local officials, conducted a trial run of the facilities on Monday. Minister Seethakka highlighted the island’s accessibility and its potential to boost tourism in Mulugu, complementing existing attractions like Bogatha Waterfalls and Laknavaram Lake. The island is approximately 220 km from Hyderabad and 150 km from Bhadrachalam. Bookings will be available through the Tourism Department’s app and a forthcoming website.

District Collector T.S. Divakara emphasized the collaborative effort between the government and the Forest Department in developing Blackberry Island into a premier tourist destination. He described the island as offering a “holistic experience, combining relaxation and adventure.” While the exact opening date remains unannounced, officials confirmed that the island will be opened to the public very soon.
