**Nainital, Uttarakhand –** A horrific bus accident in Uttarakhand left four people dead and over 24 injured on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. A Uttarakhand Roadways bus traveling from Almora to Haldwani plunged 1,500 feet into a gorge near Bhimtal.
According to officials, the bus lost control, resulting in the accident. Passengers were thrown from the vehicle upon impact, with some remaining trapped inside. Rescue teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) swiftly responded, extracting the injured using ropes and transporting them to Bhimtal community hospital. Those with critical injuries were transferred to Sushila Tiwari Medical College in Haldwani.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his condolences and ordered immediate assistance for the injured, including dispatching a team of doctors from AIIMS. He offered his prayers to the families of the deceased. Investigations into the cause of the accident are underway.
