**Mumbai, India –** A nine-year-old girl was killed and three others injured Wednesday evening when a reinforced cement concrete (RCC) water tank burst at a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) staff colony in Nagpada, Mumbai. The incident occurred around 5:43 pm, according to Mumbai Police.
The temporary water tank, installed for the construction of sanitation worker quarters under the Aashray Yojana Cell, reportedly failed due to excessive water pressure. Four people, including two children, were injured and taken to Faujiya hospital. Nine-year-old Khushi Khatun was pronounced dead on arrival. The injured, identified as Gulam Rasul (32), Miraj Khatun (9), and Najranabibi (33), are reportedly in stable condition. All victims were contractors working on the construction site.
A police investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the tank’s failure.
