Thu Dec 26 01:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Coastal Andhra Pradesh to Experience Rain and Chilly Weather Due to Weakening Low-Pressure Area
**Visakhapatnam, December 26, 2024:** Coastal Andhra Pradesh is bracing for more rain and chilly weather following the shifting and weakening of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. The intense low-pressure system, initially moving west-southwest, has changed course and is now moving northwest.
According to the meteorological department, the system, currently located near South and North Tamil Nadu, is expected to weaken into a low-pressure area by Thursday as it moves further northwest into the west-central and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal.
Moderate rainfall was reported across several coastal districts on Wednesday. The system’s influence, combined with strong winds and drizzle over the sea, has resulted in cooler temperatures along the coast. A third-level safety warning remains in effect for all ports.
The weather department forecasts further rainfall in several coastal areas and scattered showers in Rayalaseema on Thursday, with isolated heavy rainfall expected in Nellore district. A weather expert attributed the system’s sustained moisture to strong moist winds flowing from the southeast Bay of Bengal.
