Thu Dec 26 01:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Delhi Braces for Light Rain, Dense Fog, and Cold Snap
**New Delhi, India** – Delhiites are bracing for a cold snap in the coming days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for light rain and dense fog over the next four days. The IMD also warned of potential gusty winds.
Wednesday saw widespread dense fog across much of the capital, with visibility dropping below 100 meters at several weather stations. Despite this, temperatures remained above normal for the third consecutive day, with a minimum temperature of 8.4°C recorded – one degree above average. The maximum temperature reached 22.4°C, two degrees above average.
The IMD predicts the minimum temperature will reach 11°C by Friday, dropping further next week, with a maximum temperature around 21°C. Light fog is expected in the mornings for the next three days, with dense fog predicted for Sunday. Thursday is expected to see partly cloudy skies, with light rain likely in the evening and night, further intensifying the cold. Wind speeds could reach 30-40 kmph on December 27th.
The air quality index (AQI) remained in the “very poor” category (336) on Wednesday, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), although no monitoring station recorded levels in the “severe” range by 4 pm. The combination of fog, rain, and potential wind could impact air quality further in the coming days.
