Wed Dec 25 02:32:21 UTC 2024: ## NORAD Tracks Santa’s Christmas Eve Journey Around the Globe
**COLORADO SPRINGS, CO** – Santa Claus is officially underway on his annual Christmas Eve gift delivery, and the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) is once again tracking his progress. For the 67th year, NORAD is using its sophisticated radar and satellite technology – the same systems used to protect North American airspace – to monitor Santa’s journey from the North Pole across the globe.
Starting at the International Date Line, Santa is making his way westward, delivering billions of gifts. NORAD’s live tracker, available on their website and social media platforms, provides real-time updates on his location. While the tracker shows Santa’s general path, NORAD emphasizes it cannot predict his exact arrival time at individual homes; only Santa knows his precise route. However, based on historical data, they estimate most deliveries occur between 9 p.m. and midnight Christmas Eve.
Over 1,250 military and civilian volunteers are assisting with NORAD Tracks Santa, answering phone calls and emails from children eager to know Santa’s whereabouts. The public can call 1-877-HI-NORAD (1-877-446-6723) between 6 a.m. and 2 a.m. EST on December 24th to speak with an operator for an update.
Despite careful coordination with Santa’s Elf Launch Staff, NORAD acknowledges that weather conditions can impact his route, making his precise itinerary unpredictable. Follow Santa’s Christmas Eve adventure live at the NORAD Tracks Santa website.
