Tue Dec 24 20:23:20 UTC 2024: ## Kejriwal Promises 24/7 Clean Water for Delhi Ahead of Assembly Elections

**New Delhi, December 25, 2024** – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has pledged to provide Delhi with a round-the-clock supply of clean tap water if his party wins the upcoming February Assembly elections. This announcement has been met with sharp criticism from the Congress and BJP, who accuse Kejriwal of making empty promises.

Kejriwal, during a visit to Pandav Nagar, launched a pilot program for 24/7 water supply and attributed any delays to the pandemic and alleged false corruption cases against AAP leaders. He claims to have a plan to meet the city’s growing water demand, currently estimated at 1,250 million gallons per day (MGD). He stated that while AAP has increased water production since 2015, securing additional water from neighboring states remains a challenge.

Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav countered that potable water remains a luxury for many Delhiites, who rely on unregulated water tankers. He criticized the AAP government for failing to address the city’s drainage issues, leading to waterlogging during monsoon season. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva echoed these sentiments, stating that despite sufficient raw water, inefficient treatment plants cause frequent water shortages. He accused Kejriwal of making false promises, citing the inconsistent water supply in many parts of the city. The upcoming election will see a key contest over the AAP’s ability to deliver on its water promises.
