**Mandya, Karnataka, December 24, 2024** – The 87th Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, held in Mandya, concluded on Sunday with widespread praise. Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy declared the event a resounding success, citing an attendance of over 6 lakh people. This surpasses previous Sammelana attendances, setting a new benchmark.
The Sammelana, held in Mandya for the first time in 30 years, will be commemorated with the construction of a Kannada Bhavan in the town. The Minister stated that a suitable location will be identified soon, and the foundation stone will be laid shortly. The event’s president, Go. Ru. Channabasappa, lauded it as the best of the 20 Sammelanas he has attended.
Government employees contributed one day’s salary towards the event’s expenses, which featured over 30 sessions and 250 delegates from 18 countries. These delegates sent congratulatory messages following the Sammelana’s successful conclusion.
Minister Cheluvarayaswamy credited the “Kannada Ratha,” a state-wide awareness campaign visiting every Gram Panchayat in Mandya, and the “Run for Kannada” marathon for boosting public participation. He also highlighted the positive feedback received from participants in other districts. The event was attended by various officials, including Mandya MLA P. Ravikumar and Srirangapatana MLA A.B. Ramesh Bandisidde Gowda.
