**Colombo, December 24, 2024** – India will provide Sri Lanka with ₹2,371 million (approximately US$28 million) for 33 development projects, focusing on education, health, and agriculture in the eastern province, the Sri Lankan government announced today.

The funding, approved by the Indian Cabinet, will be allocated as follows: ₹315 million for education, ₹780 million for health, and ₹620 million for agriculture. The projects aim to improve infrastructure, stimulate growth, and empower local communities. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed to formalize the agreement and strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations, according to Sri Lanka’s Health Minister and cabinet spokesman, Nalinda Jayathissa. The initiative is seen as a significant step in boosting socio-economic development in Sri Lanka.
