**New Delhi, December 25, 2024** – The Indian National Congress (INC) released its second list of 26 candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February 2025. The list includes several prominent figures, notably former Delhi Mayor Farhad Suri, who will contest against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia in the Jangpura constituency. Former AAP MLAs Asim Ahmed Khan and Devender Sherawat, who recently joined the Congress, will contest from Matia Mahal and Bijwasan respectively. Other notable candidates include Mukesh Sharma (Uttam Nagar) and Rajesh Lilothia (Seemapuri). Haji Mohammad Ishraq Khan will challenge AAP’s Gopal Rai in Babarpur.

The selections were finalized following a meeting of the party’s Central Election Committee (CEC), attended by party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi via videoconference. Delhi Congress in-charge Qazi Mohammad Nizamuddin stated that the party intends to contest all 70 seats and will announce the remaining candidates after further deliberations. This second list follows the December 12th release of the first list, which included former MP Sandeep Dikshit and Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav. The Congress aims to overcome its 2015 defeat, which saw them failing to win a single seat.
