**KOTTAYAM, KERALA – DECEMBER 24, 2024** – A bison was killed in a road accident near Vandanpathal on the Mundakkayam-Kuzhimavu road in Kottayam district today. The animal was struck by a car carrying Sabarimala pilgrims from Tamil Nadu around 1 p.m.
The impact caused the car to overturn, resulting in minor injuries to the driver, Manikandan, a resident of Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu. Forest officials responded to the scene and administered first aid to the bison, but it succumbed to its injuries. A post-mortem examination will be conducted before the carcass is buried in the forest.
