Wed Dec 25 01:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Andhra Pradesh Braces for Two Days of Heavy Rainfall

**Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh:** Andhra Pradesh is expected to experience widespread rainfall over the next two days, according to the Visakhapatnam Meteorological Centre. A low-pressure system, currently over the Bay of Bengal, is predicted to intensify into a depression by Wednesday evening near the Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu coast. While the system is expected to weaken subsequently, it is still likely to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to several districts.

Meteorological officials, including Jagannath Kumar, stated that the low-pressure area is currently stationary but is gradually moving west-southwest. While the system is predicted to weaken by Wednesday evening, reducing the intensity of rainfall, the impact is still expected to cause heavy rain in coastal and Rayalaseema regions.

The forecast predicts moderate to heavy rainfall across coastal Andhra Pradesh, including East Godavari, West Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Anakapalle, and Alluri Sitarama Raju districts. Rayalaseema districts of Chittoor, Nellore, and Prakasam are also likely to receive significant rainfall. Wind speeds are expected to reach 35-40 kmph.

While heavy rains are predicted, the meteorological department has not issued any warnings to fishermen. The current system is a remnant of a low-pressure area that formed ten days ago, strengthening and weakening over the period, causing a prolonged dry spell before recent increased rainfall. The department advises residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
