Tue Dec 24 16:34:29 UTC 2024: ## Two Arrested After NCC Camp Food Poisoning Leads to Officer Assault
**KOCHI, Dec 24, 2024** – Two men, identified as a Students’ Federation of India (SFI) district secretariat member and a BJP councillor from Kalamassery municipality, have been arrested for assaulting a Lieutenant Colonel at an NCC camp in Thrikkakara. The incident followed a suspected case of food poisoning affecting over 80 cadets at the KMM College camp on Monday night.
According to the Thrikkakara police FIR, the accused trespassed onto the college grounds and attacked Lieutenant Colonel Karneyil Singh, the camp commandant, around 11:30 p.m. The Colonel sustained injuries to his cheek, neck, and back, allegedly from a sharpened object wielded by one of the accused.
The accused have been charged under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including criminal trespass, wrongful restraint, criminal intimidation, and voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons, with charges related to assaulting a public servant in the performance of his duty. The police investigation is ongoing.
