Tue Dec 24 03:13:25 UTC 2024: ## Shami Ruled Out of Remaining Border-Gavaskar Trophy Tests Due to Knee Swelling

**Mumbai, India –** Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami will miss the final two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Monday. While Shami has fully recovered from a previous heel injury, a minor swelling in his left knee, resulting from increased bowling workload in recent domestic tournaments, has ruled him out.

The BCCI stated that despite Shami’s complete recovery from heel surgery and his participation in the Ranji Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, his left knee showed swelling, deemed a natural consequence of increased activity after a period of rest. However, the medical team determined that further controlled exposure to bowling loads is necessary before he can safely return to Test cricket.

Shami will continue rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, focusing on strength and conditioning to manage his knee and gradually increase his bowling volume. His participation in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy will depend on his progress. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is currently tied 1-1.
