Tue Dec 24 04:53:06 UTC 2024: ## Shami Ruled Out of Remaining Border-Gavaskar Tests Due to Knee Swelling

**Mumbai, India** – Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the remaining two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia due to minor swelling in his left knee. While fully recovered from a previous right heel surgery, Shami’s increased bowling workload in recent domestic matches has resulted in the knee issue.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical team, based at the Centre of Excellence, reports that the swelling is a predictable consequence of the increased bowling load following a period of reduced activity. However, to ensure a complete recovery and prevent further injury, the team has determined that Shami requires additional time for controlled rehabilitation.

Shami will continue his recovery program under the guidance of the BCCI medical staff, focusing on strength and conditioning to build up his bowling capacity for the longer format of the game. His participation in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy will be dependent on his progress. The BCCI has not yet indicated a timeline for his return to international cricket.
