Tue Dec 24 08:12:17 UTC 2024: ## ED Seizes Flat Linked to Dawood Ibrahim’s Brother’s Associate
**Mumbai, December 24, 2024** – The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken possession of a ₹55 lakh flat in Thane, Maharashtra, belonging to an alleged associate of Iqbal Kaskar, brother of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim. The action is part of an ongoing money laundering investigation.
The flat, located in the Neopolis Building in Thane West, was provisionally attached in 2022 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The adjudicating authority recently approved the attachment, allowing the ED to seize the property.
The ED alleges that the flat was extorted from Thane-based real estate developer Suresh Devichand Mehta by Kaskar and his associates. Along with the flat, four cheques totaling ₹10 lakh were allegedly extorted and subsequently cashed. The money laundering case stems from a 2017 Thane Police FIR filed under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
Iqbal Kaskar is currently in judicial custody. Dawood Ibrahim, designated a terrorist by India, is believed to be residing in Pakistan.
