Tue Dec 24 05:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Canucks Snap Losing Streak, Defeat Sharks 4-3 in Home Victory

**VANCOUVER, BC** – Elias Pettersson’s two quick goals in the second period propelled the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-3 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Monday night, ending both a three-game losing streak and a seven-game personal drought for the Canucks star.

Pettersson’s tallies, just 44 seconds apart, were part of a three-goal outburst in 70 seconds that broke open a tight game. Kiefer Sherwood and Brock Boeser also found the back of the net for Vancouver, with Boeser scoring in consecutive games for the first time since October. Quinn Hughes added two assists, showcasing his recent hot streak (nine assists in the last seven games). Thatcher Demko made 26 saves in the Canucks net.

While the Canucks celebrated, the Sharks extended their winless streak to five games (0-4-1). William Eklund, on a power play, and Cody Ceci scored for San Jose, with Luke Kunin adding a late goal with only 4.7 seconds remaining. Yaroslav Askarov stopped 20 shots for the Sharks. Despite a strong performance from Sharks rookie and North Vancouver native Macklin Celebrini, who recorded two assists in his hometown debut, the Sharks couldn’t overcome Vancouver’s offensive surge.

Pettersson left the game early in the third period with an undisclosed injury and did not return. The Canucks, who conceded the opening goal for the 18th time this season, now hold a 10-6-2 record in such games. The Sharks argued unsuccessfully for goaltender interference on one of Pettersson’s goals.

Both teams face divisional rivals this Saturday: the Sharks host the Calgary Flames, while the Canucks welcome the Seattle Kraken.
