Sat Dec 21 15:18:34 UTC 2024: ## Andhra Pradesh FiberNet Sues Ram Gopal Varma Over Film Deal

**Vijayawada, December 21, 2024** – Andhra Pradesh State FiberNet Limited (APSFL) has issued a legal notice to filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, along with several others, demanding repayment of approximately ₹1.15 crore. The sum was allegedly improperly paid to RGV Aarvi Group for the online streaming of Varma’s film, “Vyuham,” on APSFL’s platform, “First Show.”

The notice alleges that former APSFL officials, M. Madhusudhan Reddy and Vuyyuru Guna Sasank Reddy, colluded to make the payment without proper authorization. Sasank Reddy signed an agreement with RGV Aarvi Group guaranteeing a ₹2 crore payment for a minimum of two lakh subscriptions, despite lacking the authority to commit APSFL to such a large sum. The agreement also included a revenue-sharing model.

The notice claims that the actual revenue generated from “Vyuham”’s streaming was significantly less than the amount paid, totaling only ₹236,271 from approximately 2228 subscriptions. The discrepancy between the payment made (₹1.15 crore) and the revenue generated represents a substantial loss for APSFL.

APSFL’s MD, K. Dinesh Kumar, stated that the payment was made without the necessary technical committee assessment and that Ram Gopal Varma and Ravi Sankar Varma (partners in RGV Aarvi Group) received the money despite not being entitled to it. The notice accuses all involved parties of cheating and causing financial loss to APSFL. The defendants have 15 days to repay the amount with interest and penalties, or face further civil action.
