JAIPUR, Rajasthan – A massive collision involving a gas tanker, truck, and several other vehicles on Ajmer Road in Jaipur left at least 12 people dead and 40 injured Friday morning, officials confirmed. The incident, which occurred around 5 a.m., resulted in a large-scale fire that spread rapidly, engulfing several vehicles, including a bus.

Witnesses reported that passengers on the burning bus were trapped due to jammed doors. The fire, visible for nearly a kilometer, also injured bystanders and damaged a nearby building. A CNG tanker, which leaked and exploded following the initial impact, is believed to have been the source of the blaze. Approximately 300 meters of the roadway was affected by the incident, requiring the use of bulldozers to clear the wreckage. At least 28 of the injured are in critical condition.

Truck driver Sumer Singh described the scene as “hell,” witnessing a massive plume of smoke before escaping his vehicle.
