**Bengaluru, December 21, 2024** – A 22-year-old veterinary doctor, Yogitha, was killed and her father injured in a road accident on Friday in Chikkaballapura. The accident occurred when a speeding goods vehicle struck their scooter on MG Road.
Yogitha, who had recently completed her veterinary course in Hassan district and was travelling to her internship in Bengaluru, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Police stated that this contributed significantly to her fatal head injuries. Her father, Muniraju, was also injured but survived.
The driver of the canter was arrested and charged with rash and negligent driving causing death. The vehicle has been seized. Police attributed the increased traffic volume on the road to ongoing, haphazard road widening work and malfunctioning traffic signals. The Chikkaballapura police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations.
