**Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 21, 2024** – Social critic Sunil P. Elayidom lauded Sree Narayana Guru’s all-religious conference as a revolutionary step towards experiential religious unity, transcending mere tolerance. Delivering the Vakkom Moulavi Memorial Lecture on Saturday, Dr. Elayidom highlighted the significance of Narayana Guru’s concept of “Palamatasaravumekam” (the essence of many religions is the same) in shaping modern Kerala, comparable to the Aruvippuram Pratishtha. He emphasized that Guru’s approach, unlike the prevalent self-assertion and refutation of other faiths, fostered interaction and complementarity among different religions, culminating in the concept of a unified religion central to Gurudarshan. The Vakkom Moulavi Award 2024 was presented to veteran journalist T.J.S. George, accepted on his behalf by Samakalika Malayalam weekly editor Saji James.
