**Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, December 21, 2024** – A 3.1 magnitude earthquake struck Addanki in Bapatla district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday morning, causing tremors felt across several villages in Bapatla and Prakasam districts. While residents experienced a brief period of panic, authorities reported no loss of life or property damage.
The tremors, which occurred at approximately 10:22 a.m., lasted for a few seconds. Affected areas included Polavaram, Sankarapuramu, and other villages in Mundlamooru and Thalluru mandals. School children and residents evacuated their homes following the tremors.
The CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) in Hyderabad confirmed the earthquake’s magnitude. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is monitoring the situation and stated they are prepared to take appropriate action if needed. V.V.N. Prasanna Kumar, Commandant of the NDRF’s 10th Battalion, confirmed that the control room received alerts regarding the tremors.
