Fri Dec 20 04:54:55 UTC 2024: ## Australia Rings in Changes for Final Tests Against India

**Melbourne, Australia** – Australia has announced significant squad revisions for the final two Test matches against India, in Melbourne and Sydney. The changes see the omission of opening batsman Nathan McSweeney, a touted replacement for the retired David Warner, and star pacer Josh Hazlewood due to injury.

Replacing McSweeney is 19-year-old Sam Konstas, who impressed selectors with a century in a recent Prime Minister’s XI practice match. National selector George Bailey acknowledged the difficult decision to drop McSweeney, stating, “We remain confident Nathan has the ability and temperament to succeed at Test level in the future.” However, Bailey added that the team seeks “a different line-up” for the upcoming matches.

Hazlewood’s absence, due to an injury sustained in Brisbane, opens the door for Jhye Richardson and Scott Boland, who are considered the frontrunners to fill his spot. The squad also includes additions Sean Abbott and Beau Webster, providing further bowling options.

Bailey emphasized the strategic nature of the changes, highlighting the need for flexibility in the batting order and the depth of fast-bowling talent within the squad.

The revised Australian squad for the final two Tests is: Pat Cummins (c), Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Sam Konstas, Usman Khawaja, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Beau Webster, Sean Abbott, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Jhye Richardson, Alex Carey, Scott Boland, and Josh Inglis.
