**Sao Paulo, Brazil –** A devastating multi-vehicle accident on a Brazilian highway claimed the lives of 22 people early Saturday. The collision, involving a passenger bus, a truck, and a car, occurred on the BR-116 highway in Minas Gerais state, southeastern Brazil.
According to the Minas Gerais Fire Department, the bus, carrying 45 passengers en route from Sao Paulo, suffered a tire blowout, causing the driver to lose control and collide with a truck. A car also became involved in the ensuing crash, but its three occupants survived. Thirteen other bus passengers sustained injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals in Teofilo Otoni.
Rescue efforts are ongoing, with firefighters reporting that additional victims remain to be recovered from the accident site. The incident is under investigation.
