**New Delhi, December 20, 2024** – The Delhi Police have transferred the case involving Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to the Crime Branch following a complaint by BJP MP Hemang Joshi. Joshi alleges that Gandhi physically assaulted him and incited violence during a scuffle in Parliament on Thursday, resulting in injuries to two other BJP MPs, Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput.
The Parliament Street police station filed an FIR against Mr. Gandhi under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those related to voluntarily causing hurt, grievous hurt, endangering life, criminal force, and criminal intimidation. Police are gathering evidence, including CCTV footage from the Parliament premises and medical reports from the injured MPs. While statements from Sarangi and Rajput will be recorded upon their hospital discharge, police have yet to contact Mr. Gandhi for questioning.
The Congress party has also filed a counter-complaint regarding the incident. A delegation of Congress MPs visited the police station to lodge their complaint. The investigation is ongoing.
