**RALEIGH, NC** – A North Carolina resident is celebrating a $4 million Mega Millions win, the largest prize claimed nationally in Tuesday night’s drawing. The winning ticket, purchased online in Statesville, matched all five white balls, initially earning a $1 million prize. However, the addition of the Megaplier boosted the winnings to $4 million.

This marks a significant win for the state, exceeding even a recent $177,000 prize won by a Raleigh man. Elsewhere, four other tickets matched all five white balls, claiming $1 million each in California (two tickets), Louisiana, and Oklahoma. A separate North Carolina ticket, purchased at a Charlotte 7-Eleven, won $10,000.

The odds of winning a $1 million prize (matching five white balls) are 1 in 12.6 million. The winner has 180 days to claim their prize.

With no jackpot winner Tuesday, the Mega Millions jackpot for Friday’s drawing soars to an estimated $825 million ($382.2 million cash value). The odds of winning the jackpot remain astronomical at 1 in 302 million.
