Fri Dec 20 20:12:23 UTC 2024: **India Women Favored to Win ODI Series Against West Indies**

VADODARA, INDIA – The India Women’s cricket team is set to face off against the West Indies Women in a three-match One Day International (ODI) series starting this Sunday, December 22nd, at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. The series, part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, sees India, currently ranked third in the ODI rankings, as heavy favorites against the sixth-ranked West Indies.

India boasts a dominant head-to-head record, having won 21 of their 26 previous ODIs against the West Indies. The teams last met in March 2022, with India securing a resounding 155-run victory. While India enters the series on a high after a 2-1 T20I series win over the West Indies, they will be without several key players due to injury including Yastika Bhatia, Shreyanka Patil, and Priya Punia. Pacer Arundhati Reddy has also been dropped from the squad. The Indian team will welcome newcomers Pratika Rawal and Tanuja Kanwar to the ODI setup.

The West Indies, meanwhile, will be hoping to turn the tables. They are battling for one of the remaining two automatic qualification spots for the Women’s World Cup 2025, alongside Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and Bangladesh. Their hopes have been boosted by the return of Deandra Dottin to the ODI squad after a long absence, however, star all-rounder Stafanie Taylor remains injured. Rashada Williams and Shabika Gajnabi also return to the squad after missing the recent T20 World Cup.

The matches will be played on December 22nd, 24th, and 27th at the Kotambi Stadium. The series will be televised live on Sports18 1 and Sports18 2 in India, and streamed live on the JioCinema app and website.
