**Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 21, 2024** – Kerala’s Health Department is launching a major antibiotic literacy campaign across 343 panchayats to combat the misuse of antibiotics. The initiative, titled “Saukhyam Sada,” will be inaugurated by Health Minister Veena George in Pathanamthitta on December 22nd.
The campaign, a collaboration between the State Drugs Control Department’s SPARK program (Students Programme Against Antimicrobial Resistance Kerala) and the National Service Scheme (NSS), will involve over 17,000 NSS student volunteers visiting homes to educate residents about the dangers of unscientific antibiotic use. This builds upon existing government campaigns against antibiotic misuse. The goal is to raise public awareness of the consequences of improper drug intake.
